How Can I Get Verified?

We get asked a lot of questions about social media, and one of the most common ones we receive is “How can I get verified?”.

For those of you who don’t know, getting verified on Twitter or Instagram is an official label from the platform that tells the viewer that you are who you say you are. This can be incredibly useful as your career starts to take off, as it allows industry professionals and fans to know that your content is actually yours!

Unfortunately, getting verified isn’t all that easy. If it were, everyone would have verified accounts! While we cannot guarantee that your account qualifies, we have put together this post to share the general requirements of verification on Twitter and Instagram!

1. First, your accounts need to be public.
Both Instagram and Twitter have the option of private accounts, but private accounts cannot be verified.

2. Your account must be complete.
This varies by platform, so we’ll address each one individually.
On Twitter, your profile must have a picture, cover photo, bio, and a website link (let us know if you need help building a website!). You also need to add a phone number and email address to the account.
On Instagram, your profile needs to have a bio and a profile picture.

3. Your account must be considered “notable”.
This is where it gets tricky, as there is no specific breakdown as to what makes a profile notable. The more followers and engagement your social media profiles have, the more likely you are to get verified. This is why we recommend consistently growing your social media presence!

4. Press, articles and backlinks help!
But, these need to be organized and available for search, let us know if you need support there. It’s exactly what we do!

If you believe your account may be eligible for verification, reach out today and we can help you submit the request! Even if you are denied, you can apply an unlimited number of times.
